The Table below summarises the Genomic Estimated Breeding Value (gEBV) for the Bucks offered to customers in 2023.
The Genomic Predicted 520 day Production Figure is established by analysing the DNA of the Buck by using SNP technology which gives a Genomic Estimated Breeding Value (gEBV). This is then converted to Predicted Production figure for 520 days milking.
For example: If a group of Does with an average production yield of 1,400 litres in 520 days was inseminated with semen from the 2022 born Bucks that have a Genomic Estimated Breeding Value (gEBV) of 2,380 litres, the daughter’s production would be 1,890 litres in 520 days.
In this example, daughters produce 490 Litres more milk than their mothers (35% increase). This yield increase in just one year provides a value return in excess of the cost of AI. But the production increase remains for the animal’s lifetime, AND it compounds because all future descendants receive the genetic advantage.
